The sleep surface features a wool and viscose ticking that is fine enough to transmit the responsiveness of the layers beneath while wicking moisture away from the body. Beneath, fillings are arranged in three distinct stages: a bonded British fleece wool and cotton surface layer for immediate resilience and breathability; a layer of British fleece wool for loft and passive temperature regulation; and a blended British fleece wool and cotton stratum closer to the spring unit to distribute load evenly before it reaches the coils.
The spring system consists of a single row of hand-nested calico pocket springs, each made from Vanadium steel. In a King size, 2,058 springs respond independently to weight and movement, absorbing pressure without transferring it across the bed. The border is upholstered with protective wool and reinforced with two rows of hand side-stitching to lock the perimeter springs in place and maintain a consistent sleep surface to the very edge. Hand-tufting with felt washers keeps the fillings aligned through the mattress’s depth, preventing migration that would otherwise create uneven support over time.
